Fr. Matthew Worthen is celebrating seven years of priesthood!

Today is a great day of celebration! Fr. Matthew Worthen is celebrating seven years of priestly ministry for the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee.

A little bit about his history…

Fr. Matt Worthen was ordained a priest of the diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee in 2011. His first assignment was at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart where he served with both Msgr. Michael Reed and then later Fr. James Valenzuela.

He first arrived at Little Flower Catholic Church in the summer of 2016 and was assigned here as a pastor by Bishop Bill Wack in January 2018.

After attending college at FSU, he discerned the vocation to the priesthood and entered seminary in 2004. He earned his BA in philosophy in 2006 from St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami, FL and his Master of Divinity in 2011 from St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, FL.

As a parochial vicar at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, he taught 7th and 8th grade Religion and Spanish before his current assignment here at Little Flower Catholic Church and School.

We are grateful for his presence at the parish, and look forward to his many years of leadership here amongst us.
