"Through the celebration of the Anointing of the Sick, the Church accompanies us in facing the profound mystery of suffering and death." Pope Francis
Moments of suffering and the reality of death can leave us feeling lost, confused, or fearful. The Church, through the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, reminds us that Christ has not left us to face suffering and death alone.
Christ has entered into the heights and depths of the human experience, longing to offer healing to all who are suffering, about to undergo surgery, or in danger of death.
The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is the other Sacrament of Healing offered to those who are afflicted with serious illness or who are about to undergo potentially dangerous or risky medical procedures. The Sacrament prays for physical healing as well as forgiveness of sins
One does not need to be at the point of death to receive this Sacrament. In fact, it is recommend that a person receive this Sacrament before they reach this point. There is no limit to the number of times one can receive the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick and is made available to all baptized Catholics.
The Sacrament is received by appointment only. Depending on the recipient's circumstances it can received at the church, at home, or in the hospital. If you are in a situation where you would like to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick please contact us.
