The Parish Religious Education program provides formal religious instruction and formation for the children of Little Flower Parish who do not attend a Catholic day school. The program seeks to form the children into faithful Disciples of Christ. The program hopes to encourage participants to have a personal relationship with Jesus, a love of the scriptures, an understanding of the creed, an ability to make good moral decisions, active participation in the sacramental life of the church and a desire to perform Christian service.
Religious Education attendance is considered by the Church to be vital to children’s development as Catholics. These classes not only educate children about Jesus and the Catholic faith but prepare children to receive the sacraments of Penance (confession), the Eucharist (First Holy Communion), and Confirmation.
But why does it exist?
Religious Education is also set up to help you, the child’s first teacher, nourish your children in their Catholic faith and encourage them at home. Family involvement is important to helping our children grow in their faith. Retreats, meetings, events and consultations are held occasionally and require your participation. Resources are available to support you in promoting a strong Catholic environment within your home and family.
Grades K – 8 meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm – 7:15 pm in the School Cafeteria from September through April observing the public school calendar for holidays and special events.
