Peace of Christ!
Sometime in August, Fr. Matt requested me to spearhead the the first ever St. Thérèse Festival in October 2018 for the benefit of the church and school. Somehow this gesture gave me an impression that he trusts my pastoral experience in Texas.Even if there are only 2 limited months to prepare for this big event the vision of the church has encouraged me to do better knowing that my pastor and the whole Community of Little Flower are backing me up. Aside from gathering all the parishioners together to celebrate the patroness of the church another objective of the Festival is to put up a grotto in the Rose Garden.
The other objectives that I have presented to the Pastor for the October 21st celebration are the following:
- To make known to members of the parish and school about the significance of St. Thérèse in our spiritual journey.
- To Learn about the patroness of the Parish and School.
- To celebrate together as one family the feast of our patroness.
- To raise the appropriate funds for the construction of our new grotto.
As part of the preparations for the Festival, the parishioners and students are encouraged to pray the novena to St. Thérèse, make the children aware aboutSt. Thérèse and her holiness, promote the devotion to our patroness through poster making, poem and slogan writing, and song compositions. Practically, the whole month of October is dedicated to St. Therese’s Awareness Month.
On the day of the Festival, all Masses on Sunday, the 21st of October, will be in honor of St. Thérèse. After the 10:30 AM Mass there will be veneration of the relics of St. Thérèse and floral offerings to be followed by the procession of the image around the church and school campuses. The procession will end up at the Parish Hall lobby where the image is to be enthroned on a small altar.
Once the religious activities are over the second half of the celebration will commence at the parish hall and church grounds that everybody can be accommodated and everyone can enjoy. There will be Live Bands, an International Food Festival, entertainment and games for children and adults, music and dance, booth vendors, a silent auction, and a raffle drawing and Awarding of Winners.
The Hymn to St. Thérèse will be sung at 5 PM to mark the closing of the Festival.
As of today, we need volunteers for the following committees; Finance, Promotion, Entertainment, Liturgy, Logistics or Physical Arrangement, Silent Auction, and Food.
The Festival Team also prays for donors and sponsors for raffle, food, and drinks. We would be more grateful if all different nationalities in our parish will take time to celebrate and participate in the International Food Festival that all may enjoy. Raffle tickets are being sold before and after the weekend masses and at the Parish Office at $10 each.
All of these are for a cause and for the glory of God and our Church.
Everyone is cordially invited to grace the event with your presence.
St. Therese of the Little Flower, pray for us!
